Mort graduated with a double major in Political Science and Sociology in 1977 from West Virginia University. He graduated from the West Virginia University College of Law in 1980 and (somewhat reluctantly) left Morgantown and began his legal career in his hometown of Spencer, West Virginia. Mort practiced in Spencer until the early 1990's including serving two-and-one-half years as prosecuting Attorney of Roane County before joining with Dave Palmer to form the Law Firm of Palmer & Titus in 1993.
Mort's primary focus in his practice is litigation including divorce, custody, adoption, personal injury, estate and real estate litigation matters.
Mort's eighth grade prophecy was that he would end up as a lawyer in Boston, so despite having no lawyers in his family, his career plans must have been more obvious to his classmates than to Mort. While Mort has yet to visit Boston, he hopes to have that opportunity in the future.
